The Office of the Vice Provost for International Initiatives is aware of and closely following the recent protests in Western Europe. We are connected to and actively monitoring guidance from the Department of State, the Overseas Security Advisory Council, U.S. embassies and Consulates, On Call International, and various news outlets.
At this time, we do not foresee significant changes to the security landscape that would affect Georgia Tech programs' ability to operate due to the current unrest, although we are making minor adjustments to daily itineraries to avoid known or announced demonstrations and locations where crowds gather. However, if the situation changes drastically, the institution will contact program participants. If this happens while abroad, all students are covered under a comprehensive health and emergency insurance plan that includes emergency evacuation. In the event that a Georgia Tech program needs to be relocated or evacuated, we will work closely with our trusted in-country partners as well as On Call International to support the safety of all students, faculty, and staff.
While abroad, we continue to encourage travelers to stay situationally aware and check their university email regularly for security alerts from STEP and communications from Georgia Tech or their host institution.
The health and safety of the Georgia Tech community is our top priority. We encourage any students or parents with questions to contact Georgia Tech-Europe at info@europe.gatech.edu, and we will be happy to speak with you or direct you to the appropriate contact.
